User-facing KDE parts would be more clear displaying the actual names of the
file systems when referenced, not programmer short hands.
Meaning "BTRFS", not btrfs, nor Btrfs.
If I, someone new to Linux and KDE, sees "fat16", I think, "what's a fat
sixteen?" Because "fat" is a word, while "FAT" is an acronym. "FAT" stands out
right away that it's not a regular word and shouldn't be interpreted as such.
Moreover, it's just correct to use FAT16, not fat16. Or exFAT, not exfat.
One looks like an acronym that can be Googled, while the other looks like a
weird word. ("exfat? you mean it was formerly fat? huh??"). Or: "why does it
say fuse? you mean like a circuit breaker fuse??" Weird words make computers
seem cryptic.
Just looking through my system, this is what I came up with, although the full
list of is covered in Partition Manager's "File System Support" window:
VFAT, not vfat
NTFS, not ntfs
BTRFS, not Btrfs
EXT4, not ext4
FUSE, not fuse
FUSEBLK, not fuseblk
ISO 9660, not iso9660
LVM2 PV, not lvm2 pv
Linux Swap, not linuxswap
etc...
And yes, I even went to the BTRFS documentation page and that's how they spell
it.
This lowercase-ification of file system names is prevalent in KDE GUI's. Maybe
because the command line tools that programmers use have *everything*
lower-cased? But these file systems' names are really acronyms.
I'm filing this bug in the General part of the bug database and will create
separate bug reports for the 4 programs I could find below:
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Dolphin: right-click on a folder, go to Properties item, see that the result
for "File system" is lower-cased
2. System Settings -> Storage Devices: under the Type column
3. Partition Manager: lots of places, especially Tools -> File System Support
4. KDiskFree: Under the Type column
5. Plasma? I couldn't find any traces, but it's not easy for me to discover,
maybe lurking in a tooltip somewhere?

7. K3b?
EXPECTED RESULT
All user-facing file system labels are in acronym case, rather than all lower
case.
KDE canonical naming guidelines be updated to reflect this.
