Bug ID: 524335
Summary: Screen brightness slider stops syncing with brightness
changes made via keyboard after being dragged manually
Classification: Plasma
Product: plasmashell
Version First 6.7.4
Reported In:
Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: Power management & brightness
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: 1.0
The screen brightness slider in the "Brightness and Color" system tray applet
stops reflecting brightness changes made through other input methods (keyboard
Fn keys) once the slider has been manually dragged at least once. It appears to
stop listening for external brightness updates until it's touched again.
Steps to Reproduce:
Open the Brightness and Color applet in the system tray.
Drag/click the screen brightness slider to set a value.
Close the popup.
Change screen brightness using the keyboard's brightness up/down keys.
Reopen the Brightness and Color applet.
Expected Result:
The slider position reflects the actual current brightness level.
Actual Result:
The slider stays at the position from step 2, ignoring the change made via
keyboard. The actual screen brightness itself changes correctly — only the
slider's displayed position is stale. Dragging the slider again re-syncs it,
but only until the next keyboard-triggered change.
