This bug is still present as of KMail  6.7.3 (26.04.3).

Exchange canonicalizes the Mail to conform to RFC 2311/RFC 8551
"The line ending MUST be the pair of characters <CR><LF> ..." 
An SMIME-signed mail sent via exchange subsequently fails validation in
practically every MUA (even KMail itself).

While that is probably questionable behaviour by exchange, KMail nonetheless
must canonicalize the Mail prior to signing it.

A workaround is using SMIME/Opaque which is not as compatible leaving e.g.
mailing list posts, Mails to users with mobile clients, etc. unusable with
SMIME signatures.
