Bug ID: 524534
Summary: system monitor desktop widget with 'grid' display
breaks some panel widgets
Classification: I don't know
Product: kde
Version First unspecified

OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general

Target Milestone: ---
Hi,
After recent upgrades, i started to notice broken panel applets - most
noticeably the network manager, but some other as well.
The underlying error is :
qrc:/qt/qml/org/kde/kirigami/templates/InlineMessage.qml:187:51: Cannot assign
object of type "Primitives.IconPropertiesGroup" to property of type
"IconPropertiesGroup_QMLTYPE_359*" as the former is neither the same as the
latter nor a sub-class of it.
After chasing it, i seem to have narrowed down reproduction steps - could
confirm them on another machine.
1. Add a System Monitor widget to the desktop
2. Set its Display Style to Grid
3. Add any sensor so the widget actually displays a chart
4. Restart plasmashell
I ran Claude Code on this and it came out with a working workaround and
detailed diagnostics, but it's well above my skill level. Won't paste its
output here as it seems to be against the rules, but can provide it if someone
feels it could be relevant.
Please tell me if i can be of any more help, have a nice day.
