Due to a bug in xpra (apparently works correctly only on primary screen), I
changed the prmary screen from the built-in of the laptop (left) to the
external monitor (right).
To my surprise this also swapped panel and background configured on each
monitor - despite the arrangement not change in any way.
To me it makes absolutely no sense to mess with the appaerance of the
monitors/screens just because the "primary" flag changes. And what's more, it
basically renders the arrangement pointless if such a change just changes it.
1) arrange two screens to left and right
2) configure each screen with panels and background images
3) switch "primary" flag
4) watch your screen's configuration get broken, basically both screens
switching places
