            Bug ID: 524843
Summary: Discover freezes with fonts larger than 10pt
    Classification: Applications
           Product: Discover
      Version First 6.7.80
       Reported In:
          Platform: KDE Linux
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: discover
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
                CC: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

DESCRIPTION

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Use any general font larger than 10pt
2. Open discover via either the shortcut or the terminal
3. Wait for freeze

OBSERVED RESULT
Discover freezes upon start

EXPECTED RESULT
Discover doesn't freeze

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: KDE Linux 2026-08-27 && KDE Linux 2026-08-26
KDE Plasma Version: 6.7.80
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.30.0
Qt Version: 6.11.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Discover doesn’t respond after opening on 20260826 and 20260827, but not in
20260818 or 20260727. The window does pop up, the application also shows in the
system monitor, yet it doesn’t load icons and it has a constant 12,4% CPU load
in the system monitor.

I use a custom font so I suspected that might be the reason, when I reset the
fonts back to normal, discover would start normally.

I tested it with a custom sans-serif (apfel grotezk), serif (vollkorn), and
mono (necto mono) font, I also tested with the scaled up default font (noto
sans).

Discover started without freezing with apfel grotezk 10pt, necto mono 10pt, and
noto sans 10pt; It did not start when using vollkorn 10pt.

Fonts larger than 10pt caused discover to freeze upon startup (I tested 11pt on
all, 12pt and 13pt on noto sans). Fonts smaller than 10pt did not cause issue
(I tested 9pt noto sans and 9pt vollkorn).

The freezing happend when opening via konsole and when opening via the
shortcut.
