DESCRIPTION
In Dolphin file manager, the "Show Preview" feature (file/folder preview) works
correctly for most images, including screenshots captured on a single monitor.
However, when a screenshot is taken on a dual-monitor setup, the preview does
not display the actual image content. Instead, Dolphin only shows a generic
image icon for those files.
This issue occurs regardless of the screenshot tool used (e.g., Spectacle,
GNOME Screenshot, or other tools). The preview works fine for other image
files, but fails systematically for images that span two monitors.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Connect a second monitor to your computer.
2. Take a screenshot that captures both monitors (e.g., using Spectacle).
3. Open Dolphin and navigate to the folder containing the screenshot.
4. Enable "Show Preview" from the toolbar or menu (View > Show Preview).
5. Observe the icon for the dual-monitor screenshot.
OBSERVED RESULT
The dual-monitor screenshot is displayed as a generic image icon (e.g., a
default PNG icon) instead of a thumbnail showing its content. The preview does
not generate a thumbnail for these specific files.
EXPECTED RESULT
Dolphin should generate a thumbnail preview for the dual-monitor screenshot,
just as it does for single-monitor screenshots or any other image file. The
file content should be visible in the preview.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This problem occurs in all view modes (Icons, Compact, Details) when previews
are enabled.
