            Bug ID: 524905
Summary: Auto-focus text field and show keyboard when opening
                    "Compose message"/remote input dialog
    Classification: Applications
           Product: kdeconnect
      Version First unspecified
       Reported In:
          Platform: Other
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: android-application
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
                CC: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

The remote-input mode (touchpad/keyboard) has a "Compose message" menu
(top-right menu button) that lets you type text in a field before
sending it to the paired device. In practice, this dialog seems mainly
useful as a workaround to use the phone's voice-to-text/dictation
feature, since voice dictation does not work directly in the
  remote-input mode itself.

However, reaching this workaround currently takes extra steps:
  1. Open the menu (top-right button)
  2. Tap the text field at the bottom to give it focus
  3. Only then does the keyboard appear and voice dictation become usable

Suggestion: when this dialog opens, automatically request focus on the
text field and show the soft keyboard immediately, instead of requiring
an extra tap. This would make the voice-dictation workaround one step
shorter and much smoother to use.
