The in-app menu shows at startup but disappears after clicking on any top-level menu. Still no global menu afterwards. Note that the app desktop file has "GDK_BACKEND=x11 UBUNTU_MENUPROXY=0" by default, so to test this it needs to be launched in another way. - On XWayland, the global menu works, but the menu item type is still wrong at startup. The "View" -> "Toolbars" submenu still contains plain entries, as opposed to checkboxes. The menu became correct after switching away the active window and then switching back.
