Thanks for the bug report, and the very thorough troubleshooting. 

There are two different bugs in this report. Each report needs to be about one
bug.

1. Variant A - normal Plasma session - kwin logs have  Failed to open
/dev/dri/card2 device (Device or resource busy)

This is a known issue with plasma-login-manager starting the session too early,
as reported in bug 523160. You can follow that report for this bug.

2. With xwaylandvideobridge stopped, kwin_scene_opengl: GL_INVALID_OPERATION
errors are seen in logs and the output is removed from the logical displays.
This report will focus on this bug, which may be a duplicate of bug 521864.
We'll need some specific logs so the kwin maintainers can look into this
further

Please attach the full output of
> journalctl --user-unit plasma-kwin_wayland --boot 0
after triggering the issue
