--- Comment #23 from Mirko Laruina <[email protected]> ---
I have the same problem on my machine (2x 4K + 1x 3K monitors, Wayland), with
Spectacle configured to take a rectangular screenshot on launch.

Apart from the many dynamic library it loads, I found out that, at least in my
case, a good chunk of the delay came from the global `AnnotationDocument` (and
`combinedImage()`) used by the rectangular-selection UI and its annotation
tools.

I changed the code so each screen's window gets its own `AnnotationDocument`
instead of sharing one global one. Startup and subsequent screenshots got
faster, and the annotation tools felt much more responsive (roughly 4-5 fps
before, smooth afterward).

The downside is that this breaks multi-monitor annotations: If you start a
freehand stroke on one screen and drag onto another, it stops at the boundary
since it is now a different `AnnotationDocument` and the pointer-grab events
continue to be propagated to the originating window.

Let me know if this could be considered a viable approach. If anyone wants to
take a look, I could clean up the code and make a merge request.
