DESCRIPTION
On main virtual desktop (and only on the primary display's instance of that
desktop), nearly all ability to focus a window is gone. Can't mouse over it,
can't click on the window, can't right click on the background to get that
menu, can't even click on the titlebar or things in the titlebar (like the X to
close the window).
One CAN go to the taskbar ok, and click on a window's listing in the taskbar to
get it to focus (and other widgets that deal with windows, like the "zoom out
to see all windows" thing, forget its name). Then the window titlebar works
too, can be moved around, closed, etc. As soon as the mouse leaves the window:
back to "no focus for you!" mode.
This doesn't appear associated with the presence of any particular window.
The trouble doesn't start until the screen has locked at least once. Hinting
that maybe the problem is a bad interaction between the ever-troublesome lock
mode and this video bridge thing?
Finally figured out how to inspect what has focus using "kdotool
getactivewindow getwindowname" running in a shell loop. This reports that this
window:
"Wayland to X Recording bridge — Xwayland Video Bridge"
owns the world when the focus leaves the window I'm typing in. In other
virtual desktops that don't have this problem, this does not show up in the
focus reporting shell loop.
Once this problem is engaged, it won't go away till killing the whole session
via logging out.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. let the screen lock
2. try to do anything with a window in the main virtual desktop, primary
display
3. curse in frustration
however, the fact that everyone and their dog isn't submitting bugs about this
means there's some corner case I have that most people don't. What it is? No
idea. Ideas appreciated.
OBSERVED RESULT
Can't get focus for windows in any way other than going to the taskbar
EXPECTED RESULT
The usual focus and window manager stuff, like happens in other virtual
desktops and even the secondary display in the primary desktop.
