I would also really appreciate this feature.

What I would like to have is a persistent setting that determines whether
Dolphin should automatically open or switch to the folder containing the newly
created archive after a compression operation.

This should be a general setting that is applied automatically to all
compression operations initiated from Dolphin's context menu. It should not be
a confirmation dialog asking after each operation whether Dolphin should open
the folder and show the newly created archive.

Personally, I would simply disable this behavior permanently and have Dolphin
remain exactly where it was after the compression has finished.
