Screenshot of this feature working on a floating panel.

DESCRIPTION

I was experimenting these last days about how to make the kickoff button stick
out from the panel when I realized that a widget from the store (Windows 7
Start Menu for KDE) was capable precisely of doing that when the panel is set
on floating mode. It seems that was not the intention of the widget author. The
widget only allows the user to configure a custom icon size for the launcher
icon. But it seems that the code used to make the panel float allows for this
thing specifically to happen as a secondary effect.

As we are now, it should be possible to just have a Vista like launcher icon
just using a custom widget with the floating panel. However, some people don' t
like floating panels or just want an exact copy of the Vista setup. So this
"feature" isn't available for them.

We don' t have either any exposed way of configuring if we want to allow the
icons to stick out or how much. Either directly on the panel or through the
widgets configuration. (official kickoff support would be awesome btw)

Proper support of this feature would enable too for icon task managers of the
likes of Mac or Latte that zoom the icons on hover and have other related
effects. This option may become a feature of the official icon task manager or
of any third party widget that would like to support such a feature.

In summary: I think we would make happy a lot of people if we transform this
unexpected sticking out enablement on an actual feature with proper support.
