Bug ID: 525305
Summary: Low FPS in animations with high refresh rate monitor
Classification: Plasma
Product: kwin
Version First 6.7.4
Reported In:
Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: major
Priority: NOR
Component: performance
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
After some recent-ish update (I think it started with Plasma 6.7.0?), I notice
lag in animations such as window closing, minimizing etc.
With this command: "qdbus6 org.kde.KWin /KWin showDebugConsole"
I was able to see that FPS randomly fluctuates between 10 and 180 (maximum of
my monitor), staying mostly on 60. I have Adaptive Sync set to Automatic
(FreeSync). I believe the low FPS would be the cause for the lag in animations.
In the changelogs I found this commit
https://invent.kde.org/plasma/kwin/-/commit/7e38812f563a0c281ce953d0ef24c031ef888a6a
but I have no idea if that is related to this performance issue.
Is there anything I can try such as setting an env. var. or something? Below is
some info from my PC. Thanks.
