Bug ID: 525522
Summary: Shift+drag no longer shows tiling zones or snaps
windows on 6.7.90 (Wayland)
Classification: Plasma
Product: kwin
Version First 6.7.90
Reported In:
Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: Quick Tiling
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
SUMMARY
Since upgrading to Plasma 6.7.90 (6.8 beta 1), holding Shift while
dragging a window by its titlebar no longer shows the custom tiling
layout zones, and the window does not snap into a tile.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set up a custom tiling layout (Meta+T), e.g. three horizontal tiles.
2. Grab any window by its titlebar and start dragging.
3. Hold Shift while dragging.
OBSERVED RESULT
No tiling zones are shown; the window moves freely and does not snap.
EXPECTED RESULT
Tiling zones appear and the window snaps into the tile under the cursor,
as on 6.7.5.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Keyboard quick-tile shortcuts (Meta+Shift+Arrows, "Custom Quick Tile")
still work and place windows into the layout correctly, so the layout
itself is intact — only the Shift modifier during mouse drag is ignored.
- Reproduced with both Breeze and a third-party (Klassy) decoration.
- No xkb options set. Layouts: ru, us(mac).
- Wayland session, single 5120x1440 monitor, scale 1.
- NVIDIA RTX 3090 Ti, open kernel modules 610.57.04, kernel 7.3-rc2.
- Worked as expected on 6.7.5 immediately before the upgrade.
