This has to do with the name change by MLT. They went from alphsp0t to alpha0ps-alphasp0t (don't ask me why).. The effects are still there but under a different name. To avoid them being removed completely OP has to manually change the effect names in the .kdenlive project file using a text editor. This bug report is close to three years old without a follow-up.
