A screencast is attached demonstrating the issue. In the first part, with
English (US) active, typing kiot immediately filters the Appl I have to say
that I also try with fcitz it hás the same problem
SUMMARY
On Fedora KDE Plasma Wayland, the Application Launcher (Kickoff) search does
not update normally while typing with a Vietnamese input method.
With the English (US) keyboard, search results are filtered immediately after
each typed character.
With a Vietnamese IME enabled, text input is accepted, but the launcher search
may remain unchanged or appear to freeze instead of updating as I type.
The issue is reproducible with more than one Vietnamese input method, including
Fcitx5-Unikey and IBus-Unikey.
Switching back to English (US) immediately restores normal search behavior.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Log into a KDE Plasma Wayland session on Fedora KDE.
2. Enable a Vietnamese input method such as Fcitx5-Unikey or IBus-Unikey.
3. Press Meta/Super to open the Application Launcher.
4. Type the name of an installed application.
OBSERVED RESULT
The typed text appears, but the application search does not update immediately
and may appear to stop responding while the Vietnamese IME is active.
Changing the input source to English (US) makes the search results update
immediately as each character is typed.
EXPECTED RESULT
Application Launcher search results should update immediately while typing,
regardless of whether the text is being entered through a Vietnamese IME or the
English (US) keyboard.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- The same machine behaves normally when the input source is English (US).
- I have observed the problem with both Fcitx5-Unikey and IBus-Unikey, so it
does not appear to be specific to only one Vietnamese IME implementation.
- Similar delayed input/search behavior is also noticeable in some web
applications when a Linux Vietnamese IME is active, while browser-based
Vietnamese input that bypasses the system IME behaves normally.
- I am not claiming that Plasma is necessarily the root cause; I am reporting
the reproducible difference so that the input/preedit handling can be
investigated.
