Sometimes they disconnect and I really don't want my windows and panels being thrown into chaos when that happens. I'm not familiar with what info is available but while identifiers may not be perfectly unique I doubt a heuristic couldn't be cooked up where say the details from edid and use a hash of that to know that at least its effectively the same monitor. But if we accept that nothing can be done there still is a fundamental problem. Monitor disconnects, reconnects and some panels' icon and text task management widget is empty despite having windows/apps there. You can toggle through them with alt+tab and if you clone the panel they show up. So clearly the details are there somewhere. Every time this happens I end up having to go panel by panel, move the panel somewhere else, clone it back to the original location, then delete the old one.
