SYSTEM - CachyOS, Plasma 6.7.5, KDE Frameworks 6.30.0, Qt 6.11.2, Wayland - Kernel 7.2.6-1-cachyos - Intel Core m3-6Y30, Intel HD Graphics 515 (i915) OBSERVED - /sys/class/backlight only contains intel_backlight (max_brightness 937). - Writing values directly to intel_backlight/brightness changes the value, but the panel brightness stays the same. - kscreen-doctor -o reports for eDP-1: "Brightness control: supported", "HDR: incapable". - The brightness slider and "kscreen-doctor output.eDP-1.brightness.20" have no visible effect. KERNEL PARAMETERS TESTED - i915.enable_dpcd_backlight=1: no change - i915.enable_dpcd_backlight=3: no change - acpi_backlight=none: intel_backlight disappears, but KWin then reports "Brightness control: unsupported" and the slider is gone. KWin does not fall back to software brightness for this internal panel. REQUEST A setting to make KWin ignore the (non-functional) backlight device and use software brightness instead would make brightness control usable on this device.
