            Bug ID: 526050
           Summary: An axis whose Range type is "Auto Data" is
                    recalculated only at the moment the type is selected;
                    afterwards it keeps that snapshot regardless of data
                    or plot range changes
    Classification: Applications
           Product: LabPlot
      Version First unspecified
       Reported In:
          Platform: Microsoft Windows
                OS: All
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: Visualization
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Example data in a spreadsheet column: 1, 2, 3
2. Plot this column as a Bar Plot
3. Select the y-axis; Properties → General → Range: "Auto Data"
4. Change the value 3 to 4

OBSERVED RESULT
The plot (and the y2 axis, Range = "Auto") rescale to 0..4, but the y-axis
still spans 0..3.

EXPECTED RESULT
The y-axis should update and span 0..4.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Similar problematic cases, same root cause: when the Plot Area range is shrunk
so that
- End is below the stale axis maximum (upper limit), or
- Start is above the stale axis minimum (lower limit),
all tick labels lying outside the plot range are drawn on the plot edge (the
first one at the bottom, all others at the top) and overlap each other. The
reader is misled into taking the edge label for the limit of the displayed
data. Start/End are disabled in the Axis dock for "Auto Data", so the stale
value cannot be corrected by hand; it also survives save/reload.

Code: AxisPrivate::retransformRange() (Axis.cpp ~1141) is the only place
reading m_plot->dataRange() for "Auto Data" and is called only from the
SetRangeType command and coordinateSystemIndexChanged;
CartesianPlotPrivate::retransformScale() (CartesianPlot.cpp ~3929) updates only
axes with rangeType == Auto. The edge rendering comes from commit 9fc5b9f16
("Axis: Show ticks even when the range is broken"); released 2.12.x omits such
ticks instead.
