SUMMARY
The compact representation (applets/kicker/CompactRepresentation.qml, also used
by Application Dashboard) draws the button with Kirigami.Icon {
roundToIconSize: true }. In a thick panel the icon is rounded down to the next
standard icon size, while the Icons-only Task Manager next to it draws its
icons at the full available size. In a 56 px floating panel the Application
Dashboard button (default icon) was 22 px while the task icons were about 43
px.
The code comment says the rounding is meant for square custom images, but it
also applies to theme icons.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Floating panel with thickness 56.
2. Add Application Dashboard (or Application Menu) and the Icons-only Task
Manager.
OBSERVED RESULT
The launcher button is much smaller than the task icons.
EXPECTED RESULT
The same size as the task icons, e.g. round only custom images, like Kickoff's
button.
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Kubuntu 26.04.1, Plasma 6.6.6, KDE Frameworks 6.24.0, Qt 6.10.2, Wayland.
roundToIconSize: true is still there on plasma-desktop master.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Bug 479102 was a different cause (minimum width), fixed in 6.0.
