Bug ID: 526359
Summary: Externally removed keyword is not removed from photo
in digiKam
Classification: Applications
Product: digikam
Version First 9.1.0
Reported In:
Platform: Other
OS: Microsoft Windows
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: Metadata-Exif
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
When a file is modified externally to add a keyword, digiKam gets it. But when
I externally remove a keyword, digiKam continues to associate the old keyword
with the photo. This is true even though the ExifTool metadata panel shows that
the keyword is not there.
"Rescan file when files are modified" checked. Executing "Item-->Reread
Metadata from File" still does not remove the keyword.
DESCRIPTION
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Externally from digiKam, rewrite a photo to remove a keyword.
2. Verify with ExifTool that the keyword is no longer in the file.
3. Execute "Item-->Reread Metadata from File"
OBSERVED RESULT
The keyword is still there in digiKam.
EXPECTED RESULT
The keyword should no longer be there since it is no longer in the file.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Scanning around, this may be a very old bug, which suggests that it is not a
bug but that there is some option that I don't know about.
Bug 352711 from 10 years ago seems similar. If it was fixed then it appears to
be back.
