We discussed this issue in the VDG a few times, I was advised to submit a
ticket. 22px is a legacy standard that, it seems, only Plasma still carries.
The rest of the landscape has moved to 24px as the base size for desktop icons.
This allows for a cleaner design process as it doubles icons cleanly at 48px
and other needed sizes.
The change requested is to align more closely to this design. We already
provide some 24px icons, 24px icons are supported in Plasma. Ocean icons are
not using 22px icons as a base. The freedesktop.org standard already uses 24px
as their base.
Submitting in kirigami frameworks, but let me know if it belongs in a different
place.
The change seems to require the following (Please correct this information if
it seems wrong):
- KIconThemes / KIconLoader (Frameworks) requires to update the fallback
defaults for the Toolbar and MainToolbar groups from 22 to 24.
- Kirigami (Kirigami.Units.iconSizes): smallMedium should change from 22 to 24.
- Breeze widget style: The PM_ToolBarIconSize and related metrics constants
need to match, or toolbars will look padded wrongly.
- plasma-workspace / plasma-desktop: Find hardcoded values in the panel, system
tray and task manager as they ignore the icon resizing right now and modify
these values.
