            Bug ID: 526620
           Summary: org.kde.KSplash.service occasionally fails
    Classification: Plasma
           Product: plasmashell
      Version First master
       Reported In:
          Platform: KDE Linux
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: Splash Screens
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: 1.0

DESCRIPTION

Immediately after the splash screen disappears, `/usr/bin/plasma_waitforname
org.kde.KSplash` is still running.
And after a while, it fails, and system journal contains:

plasma_waitforname[2149]: WaitForName: Service was not registered within
timeout
systemd[1071]: dbus-:[email protected]: Main process exited,
code=exited, status=1/FAILURE
systemd[1071]: dbus-:[email protected]: Failed with result
'exit-code'.

This doesn't happen with auto login. But can occasionally reproduce by logout
then login again.

Earlier logs have:
systemd[1071]: Created slice Slice /app/dbus-:1.2-org.kde.KSplash.
systemd[1071]: Started dbus-:[email protected].
systemd[1071]: Created slice User Background Tasks Slice.
...
systemd[1071]: Finished Splash screen shown during boot.
systemd[1071]: Started dbus-:[email protected].

So it seems `/usr/share/dbus-1/services/org.kde.KSplash.service` is invoked
twice. The second invocation happens just after the splash screen is finished,
thus failed. We have the same logs even in those sessions where the bug doesn't
happen. So my theory is:
1. `/usr/share/dbus-1/services/org.kde.KSplash.service` is invoked by exactly
the dbus call instructing KSplash to quit.
2. So when KSplash is quiting, the service launches `plasma_waitforname
org.kde.KSplash`, resulting in a race condition. If the former quits before the
dbus name check in the latter, we have the bug.

One possible workaround is for KSplash to hold the dbus name for a few extra
seconds before quitting. But I guess there might be cleaner ways fix this.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Login from Plasma Login Manager.
2. Wait for one minute.
3. `journalctl -e`

OBSERVED RESULT
Error logs about dbus-:[email protected] failed.

EXPECTED RESULT
No errors.
