On one of my machines I currently run into a weird issue with KDE Plasma
workplace and wallpaper settings:
When I try to change the desktop layout and wallpaper on my left screen which
is connected through DVI, plasmashell doesn't save the settings and/or
SEGFAULTs everytime I click "OK" to close the dialogue.
For the second screen which is connected through a HDMI to DVI adapter, this
works completely fine.
To reproduce the SEGFAULT:
1. Right-click on desktop of left screen
2. Open workplace and wallpaper settings
3. Change the desktop layout from folder to workplace
4. Apply the desktop layout
5. Change the wallpaper to a different one
6. Hit "Apply" and then "OK"
Result: Plasmashell SEGFAULTs without saving the changed settings.
To reproduce not saving the wallpaper without SEGFAULT:
1. Right-click on desktop of left screen
2. Open workplace and wallpaper settings
3. Change the wallpaper to a different one
4. Hit "Apply" and/or then "OK"
5. Log out of your KDE Plasma session (through Crtl+Alt+Del, for example) and
log back in
Result: Plasmashell didn't save the wallpaper settings and loads the previous
wallpaper.
This issue is not reproduceable on my other systems (also KDE Plasma 6.7.5, one
on Fedora KDE 44, one on CachyOS). I noticed this issue after upgrading Fedora
KDE with two steps from 42 to the current 44 as the system was not used for a
longer period of time.
Even when this isn't a common bug, I would really appreciate some hints on how
I can solve this without deleting my whole user config and starting from
scratch.
The crash can be reproduced every time.
