Karlo Ćurić <[email protected]> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |[email protected] --- Comment #3 from Karlo Ćurić <[email protected]> --- I encountered the same symptom on Ubuntu 26.04.1 LTS with Dolphin 25.12.3 and ffmpegthumbs 25.12.3: image thumbnails worked, small video thumbnails could work, but normal large MP4/MKV files on a CIFS-mounted NAS did not show thumbnails. I initially reproduced the MIME registration issue described above. The installed ffmpegthumbs plugin did not explicitly contain "video/mp4" or "video/x-matroska", so I rebuilt ffmpegthumbs 25.12.3 with those MIME types added. However, installing that patched plugin did NOT fix the problem on my system. The actual cause turned out to be a Dolphin-specific setting in: "~/.config/dolphinrc" under: "[PreviewSettings]" which contained: "MaximumRemoteSize=104857600" This limited Dolphin previews to 100 MB, even though my KDE-wide setting in: "~/.config/kdeglobals" was: "MaximumRemoteSize=5242880000" (5 GB). After removing the Dolphin-specific "MaximumRemoteSize=104857600" line, clearing the thumbnail cache and rebuilding the KDE service cache, thumbnails immediately started working for large MP4 and MKV files. I then restored the completely stock Ubuntu ffmpegthumbs package, cleared the thumbnail cache again, and retested. Thumbnails continued to work. I tested roughly 20 movies successfully. So at least in my case, the MIME registration issue was not the cause of the missing thumbnails. A per-application "MaximumRemoteSize" override in "dolphinrc" can produce essentially the same symptoms. It may be useful for others experiencing this bug to check both: "~/.config/dolphinrc" and: "~/.config/kdeglobals" for conflicting "[PreviewSettings]" / "MaximumRemoteSize" values before rebuilding ffmpegthumbs. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
