--- Comment #2 from [email protected] --- Root cause found. Mathematica 14.3 sets QT_PLUGIN_PATH to its bundled Qt plugins: QT_PLUGIN_PATH=.../Wolfram 14.3/SystemFiles/Libraries/Linux-x86-64/Qt/plugins/ kde-open inherits this variable as a child process. On Wayland, the system Qt then loads Mathematica's libxdg-shell.so, which was built against a different Qt version. Since the Wayland shell integration plugins use Qt private API, the version mismatch leads to the SEGV in QWaylandXdgShellIntegration::initialize. This also explains why QT_QPA_PLATFORM=xcb works around it: the Wayland shell plugin is never loaded. Confirmed fix: running kde-open with QT_PLUGIN_PATH unset works on Wayland without forcing xcb: env -u QT_PLUGIN_PATH kde-open <url> So the actual cause is Mathematica leaking its private plugin path to child processes. Still, kde-open (or Qt) could defensively handle this, e.g. by ignoring an inherited QT_PLUGIN_PATH, or Qt could refuse to load private-API plugins built against a different Qt version instead of crashing. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
