Bug ID: 526717
Summary: Backup Status uses a regular icon instead of its
symbolic counterpart in the system tray popup
Classification: Plasma
Product: kup
Version First unspecified
Reported In:
Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
SUMMARY
Kup uses a symbolic status icon in the panel but the regular coloured icon in
the hidden system tray popup. Its appearance changes solely according to tray
placement.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Select an icon theme providing distinct security-high and
security-high-symbolic artwork (tested with Oxygen, symbolic icons installed at
22, 24 and 32px).
2. Have Kup report Backup status OK.
3. Display Backup Status directly in the panel.
4. Move it into the hidden system tray entries and open Status and
Notifications.
OBSERVED RESULT
The popup displays the regular coloured security-high shield, whereas the panel
requests security-high-symbolic.
EXPECTED RESULT
Use the symbolic status icon consistently in both the panel and hidden-items
popup when the theme provides it.
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Manjaro Linux, Wayland
Kup: 0.10.0 (package 0.10.0-3)
KDE Plasma: 6.7.4
KDE Frameworks IconThemes: 6.29.0
Qt: 6.11.2
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Installed applet code in
/usr/share/plasma/plasmoids/org.kde.kupapplet/contents/ui/main.qml:
Plasmoid.icon: inPanel
? symbolicizeIconName(getCommonStatus("tooltip icon name", "kup"))
: getCommonStatus("tooltip icon name", "kup")
The non-panel branch explicitly omits symbolic-name conversion. Please consider
using symbolicizeIconName() in both locations, with normal icon-loader fallback
when symbolic artwork is unavailable.

shield beside Backup Status in the popup.
