            Bug ID: 526743
Summary: Wi-Fi disconnects/doesn't reconnect and Wired is
                    unsteady
    Classification: Plasma
           Product: plasmashell
      Version First master
       Reported In:
          Platform: Ubuntu
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: Networking in general
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: 1.0

This is regarding Kubuntu 26.04.x (probably Ubuntu 26.04.x),

Pardon my inexperience about this. My first bug report, ever, and I'm not a
Linux expert.

The Wi-Fi connectivity is unstable on hardware that has proven stable with
several othere OSes. It will connect for a minute or so, then disconnect. With
v26.04, the SSID would remain visible and select-able, but would result in the
same behavior after re-selecting. With v26.04.1, the same initial behavior
happens, but the SSID is no longer visible after the disconnect. I have only
tested this with Kubuntu.

Wired networking is unsteady with 26.04: speed variations and apparent
momentary disconnects. (I haven't tested 26.04.1: since the Wi-Fi issue
persisted to the point release, my guess is that the wired issue continued as
well.

Note: This is happening with a desktop (the wired issue) and a laptop (the
Wi-Fi issue). All hardware is unchanged and I didn't include the hardware
details because 1) I'm not sure what might be relevant or what you might be
interested in knowing and 2) this behavior only happens with Kubuntu 26.04
relative to the other OSes that I use.

I have been running 24.04 for over a year without a problem. I have a desktop
that boots (fully installed versions) into Win7, Win10, Manjaro, Guruda, Zorin,
CachyOS, Mint, et al. The boot manager is Terabyte Unlimited's "BootIt BM (Bare
Metal)". All Linux OSes are the current versions. At one time, I tests Ubuntu
LTS and several Flavors and settled - highly pleased - with Kubuntu 24.04. The
only OS showing networking issues on my hardware is Kubuntu 26.04.x

I hope this helps.

I will continue testing the 26.04.x updates with fingers crossed.

Best regards,
Dave Cloyd
