Bug ID: 526804
Summary: Wishlist: Add caret navigation mode (keyboard-driven
text cursor)

Product: okular
Version First unspecified

Target Milestone: ---
## Feature Description
Add a caret-browsing/caret-navigation mode, similar to SumatraPDF's F7 mode or
Firefox's caret browsing.
When activated (e.g., via the F7 shortcut), an I-beam text cursor appears on
the page. Users can:
- Move the cursor character by character with arrow keys
- Jump word by word with Ctrl + Left/Right arrow
- Select text with Shift + arrow keys / Ctrl + Shift + arrow keys
- Trigger annotations (highlight, underline) directly after selecting text,
without switching tools first
## Use Case
This is extremely useful for keyboard-heavy reading workflows, academic paper
annotation, and users who prefer keyboard navigation over mouse. It matches the
text editing behavior of most word processors (Word, LibreOffice) and feels
much more intuitive than the current "tool-first" annotation workflow.
## Reference Implementation
- SumatraPDF (F7 caret mode): very smooth keyboard text selection and
navigation
- Firefox / Edge browser caret browsing (F7)
## Additional Notes
Okular already has solid text selection logic and annotation support; the main
missing pieces are a persistent text caret and keyboard-driven cursor movement.
