DESCRIPTION
Plasma System Monitor's Overview GPU gauge continuously shows 0.0% although the
display GPU is active. Measurements on this machine show that ksystemstats
returns zero while the kernel utilization interface is unsupported.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Plasma System Monitor, Overview, and observe the GPU gauge while the
desktop is active.
2. Query kstatsviewer gpu/all/usage gpu/gpu0/usage gpu/gpu1/usage --details.
3. Read /sys/class/drm/card0/device/gpu_busy_percent and the corresponding
card1 file.
4. Compare radeontop -b 06 -d - -l 2.
OBSERVED RESULT
- gpu/all/usage, gpu/gpu0/usage and gpu/gpu1/usage each returned 0.
- Both kernel gpu_busy_percent reads failed with errno 95, Operation not
supported.
- radeontop 1.4 measured gpu 6.67% in two consecutive samples on bus 06. These
were taken in the same diagnostic session, not precisely simultaneously with
the KDE query.
- VRAM sensors return valid values: gpu/gpu1/usedVram 2216239104 bytes,
totalVram 6442450944 bytes; gpu/gpu0/usedVram 9736192 bytes.
- Overview uses gpu/all/usage for highPrioritySensorIds and totalSensors.
EXPECTED RESULT
An unsupported or failed utilization measurement should display as unavailable
rather than a valid 0%. If feasible, a utilization fallback for older AMD GPUs
would be useful; radeontop can sample activity on this machine.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
MacPro6,1 with two Apple FirePro D700 GPUs (AMD Tahiti XT, PCI 1002:6798), both
using amdgpu.
02:00.0 subsystem 106b:0128; 06:00.0 subsystem 106b:0127.
06:00.0 drives the displays.
No System Monitor configuration or GPU driver changes were made during
diagnosis. This report concerns GPU activity, not VRAM percentage.
