Bug ID: 526906
Summary: Importing an m3u playlist creates lots of yt-dlp
processes leading to very high CPU usage for an
indefinite amount of time
Classification: Applications
Product: Haruna
Version First 1.8.1
Reported In:
Platform: Flatpak
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
DESCRIPTION
When importing a playlist, btop shows lots of yt-dlp processes getting spawned.
I'm not sure about the exact number, but it could be hundreds of yt-dlp
processes. CPU usage drastically increases, and hits thermal limits. If I'm not
wrong, mpv can directly stream m3u files and yt-dlp does not need to run for
IPTV functionality/m3u streaming.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Import a large m3u file like IPTV-Org's
2. Lots of yt-dlp processes spawn and hampers the CPU
OBSERVED RESULT
The playlist is imported, and lots of yt-dlp processes spawn and cause very
high CPU usage.
EXPECTED RESULT
No yt-dlp processes spawn for an m3u playlist, CPU usage stays stable, and a
stream plays only when I double click on a playlist item from the playlist.
