Committed on 12/10/2026 at 09:39. Pushed by meven into branch 'master'. kpasswdserver: stop waiting 24 days for the wallet to open KWallet opens a wallet synchronously with a D-Bus timeout of 0x7FFFFFFF ms, about 24 days. kpasswdserver opened it from the thread that serves its D-Bus calls, so a kwalletd that took the call and never answered parked kiod for the rest of the session. No password prompt appeared after that, in any application, because they all share one kiod. Restarting kpasswdserver was the only way out. Open the wallet in KWallet's asynchronous mode instead. That call still waits for kwalletd to answer, on the default timeout of 25 seconds, but it gives up, and the wallet is then left alone for the rest of the session. The request that needs the wallet carries on once it says whether it opened. The deprecated checkAuthInfo() still opens the wallet the other way, because it has to answer its caller before it returns. KIO has not called that method since it gained the async variants.
