Bug ID: 526970
Summary: KPhotoAlbum 6.2.0 – Annotation dialog layout is not
saved between sessions
Classification: Applications
Product: kphotoalbum
Version First 6.2.0
Reported In:
Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: Annotation Dialog
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
further bug number was 526309
today I have a new one, maybe it could help to solve my problem?
Environment:
• KPhotoAlbum 6.2.0 (Flatpak)
• Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon
• Flatpak application ID: org.kde.kphotoalbum
Description:
The annotation dialog layout cannot be saved permanently.
Both options are affected:
• Keep annotation dialog layout globally
• Keep annotation dialog layout for this database
When either option is selected, the layout is retained during the current
KPhotoAlbum session.
However, after completely closing and restarting KPhotoAlbum, the previously
selected layout is lost. The checkbox for the selected option is also unchecked
again.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Start KPhotoAlbum.
2. Open the annotation dialog.
3. Adjust the dialog layout.
4. Select the option to keep the layout globally or for the current
database.
5. Close KPhotoAlbum completely.
6. Restart KPhotoAlbum and reopen the annotation dialog.
Actual result:
The layout is not restored, and the selected option is no longer checked.
Expected result:
The selected annotation dialog layout should be restored automatically after
restarting KPhotoAlbum.
Additional investigation:
• The Flatpak configuration file
~/.var/app/org.kde.kphotoalbum/config/kphotoalbumrc remains unchanged after
saving the layout and exiting KPhotoAlbum.
• No kphotoalbumstaterc or layout.dat file was found in the examined
application directories.
• The problem occurs with both layout-saving options.
• The photo database itself continues to function normally.
There is also a separate annotation dialog problem: switching between
annotation categories can cause the dialog to become excessively tall and
impossible to resize vertically. This issue has already been reported
separately.
Please investigate whether the annotation dialog layout persistence mechanism
works correctly in the Flatpak build of KPhotoAlbum 6.2.0.
