Bug ID: 526979
Summary: Details view keeps reverting away from my selected
default settings for single folder
Classification: Applications
Product: dolphin
Version First unspecified
Reported In:
Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: view-engine: details mode

Target Milestone: ---
DESCRIPTION
Despite using the "Remember display style for each folder" setting, my
~/Downloads folder always opens with display settings that I have never chosen
and which are not my default settings. If I change the settings (either
manually, or by doing [View->Restore to defaults], it will not persist. Even
within the same session and Dolphin tab, if I go into a subdirectory within
Downloads, and then back up a level to Downloads, the Downloads view will be
back to the original view settings that I did not choose and do not like. It is
only the Downloads folder that behaves this way, the rest of the filesystem
seems to behave as expected and remember the changed settings.
I've looked through some config files to see if there's any clues why this is
happening but can't see anything. I've also tried manually overwriting the
extended attributes using `setfattr` but Dolphin just overwrites it back to the
problematic state as soon as I interact with the folder in Dolphin.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open ~/Downloads in Dolphin to see unwanted View configuration
2. Change the Detailed view settings to preferred configuration
3. Navigate away from ~/Downloads and then return to ~/Downloads
OBSERVED RESULT
The preferred configuration is reverted to unwanted configuration
EXPECTED RESULT
The changed settings are remembered for the folder
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System (available in the Info Center app, or by running `kinfo` in a
terminal window): Void
KDE Plasma Version: 6.7.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.30.0
Qt Version: 6.11.2
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I am running not running Dolphin within a Plasma desktop session, but within a
Noctalia+Niri setup. This bug did not used to happen so I don't think it's an
inherent problem of the setup, it started at some point and has persisted
through several software updates.
