            Bug ID: 527045
Summary: Klipper freezes copying of a large LibreOffice Calc
range for ~1 minute on Wayland (requests image
                    representation)
    Classification: Plasma
           Product: plasmashell
      Version First master
       Reported In:

                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: Clipboard widget & pop-up

  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
Copying a large cell range in LibreOffice Calc (3 columns x 113,000 rows) makes
Calc unresponsive for about a minute. Disabling the Clipboard widget (System
Tray settings -> Entries -> Clipboard -> Disabled) makes the copy instant, so
Klipper is what causes the delay.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open a spreadsheet in LibreOffice Calc with a range of 3 columns x 113,000
rows.
2. Select the whole range and press Ctrl+C.
3. Observe that Calc hangs for roughly a minute.

OBSERVED RESULT
Calc is unresponsive for ~1 minute. After it finishes, `wl-paste --list-types`
shows that the clipboard is now owned by Klipper (it contains
application/x-kde-onlyReplaceEmpty) and offers application/x-qt-image plus a
long list of image/* formats (png, avif, bmp, jpeg, webp, tiff, ...). Reading
text/plain afterwards is instant (3 MB in 0.02 s), so the delay happens when
Klipper fetches the data from Calc, not when pasting.

EXPECTED RESULT
Copying should not block the source application. Klipper should not request an
image representation for huge text/table selections, or at least should do it
asynchronously / with a size limit.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Changing Klipper's options (ignoring images, etc.) did not help.
- Switching LibreOffice VCL backend (SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen) did not help, so it
does not depend on the LibreOffice toolkit plugin.
- Suggestion: add an option to skip image data / limit the maximum size of a
clipboard entry, or ignore the image formats offered by the source application
when text is available.
