Don't toggle playback when clicking the video to dismiss the menu The application menu is not modal, so the press that closes it is also delivered to the play/pause MouseArea covering the video. Picking a subtitle or audio track leaves the menu open, so the click needed to get rid of it always paused playback as a side effect. Make the menu modal without dimming. Qt then swallows the dismissing press while still closing the menu on it, so playback keeps running and a separate click is needed to pause.
