            Bug ID: 527115
           Summary: Sharing a URL from the Android app to the desktop does
                    nothing - QDesktopServices::openUrl() in
                    SharePlugin::receivePacket() fails silently
    Classification: Applications
           Product: kdeconnect
      Version First 26.08.2
       Reported In:
          Platform: Other
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: common
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
                CC: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

Sharing a web page from the KDE Connect Android app to the desktop does
nothing: no browser opens, no notification, no error.

Environment
- Desktop: CachyOS/Arch, kdeconnect 26.08.2, Plasma 6.7.5 / KWin Wayland, Qt 6,
XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=KDE; xdg-open <url> opens Firefox correctly from a shell in
the same session.
- Phone: OnePlus CPH2691, Android 16, KDE Connect 1.35.17.

Steps
1. Pair, kdeconnect_share enabled on both sides.
2. On the phone share a web page (Chrome -> Share -> KDE Connect -> desktop).
3. Nothing happens on the desktop: no browser, no notification, no error.

Evidence the packet arrives
$ dbus-monitor --session 'interface=org.kde.kdeconnect.device.share'
  member=shareReceived
     string "https://github.com/sipeed/picoclaw";
$ dbus-monitor --session
'interface=org.freedesktop.Notifications,member=Notify' # no output at all
shareReceived(url) is emitted only from the url branch, so
QDesktopServices::openUrl() definitely ran.

Analysis (plugins/share/shareplugin.cpp, ReceivePacket)
    } else if (np.has(QStringLiteral("url"))) {
        QUrl url =
QUrl::fromEncoded(np.get<QByteArray>(QStringLiteral("url")));
        QDesktopServices::openUrl(url);        // return value ignored
        Q_EMIT shareReceived(url.toString());
    }
Unlike the text branch this raises no notification, so a failing openUrl is
completely silent. Here it opens nothing, while xdg-open from the same session
works and org.freedesktop.portal.OpenURI.OpenURI returns a request handle.

Expected: the browser opens on the desktop - or at least an error/notification
is shown.

Workaround in use: a session-bus listener on shareReceived calling xdg-open.
