            Bug ID: 527172
Summary: Visible mouse cursor freezes after reopening game
menus under Wine-Wayland despite KWin 6.8.0 fix
    Classification: Plasma
           Product: kwin
      Version First 6.8.0
       Reported In:
          Platform: CachyOS
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: wayland-generic

  Target Milestone: ---

DESCRIPTION

The visible mouse cursor freezes in Enshrouded when switching between gameplay
and menus while using Wine-Wayland. The issue is reproducible with KWin
6.8.0-1.1, despite the fix for Bug 526010 being included in Plasma 6.8.0. Mouse
input itself continues to work correctly. Only the visible cursor stops
following the actual mouse position.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. Launch Enshrouded using proton-cachyos-slr with the launch option
`PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 %command%`.
2. Initially, the visible mouse cursor works normally.
3. Enter the game, load any save and open a menu.
4. The visible mouse cursor becomes stuck at a fixed position.
5. Move the mouse across menu items. Hover highlighting continues to respond
correctly to the actual mouse position, even though the visible cursor remains
stationary.

OBSERVED RESULT

The visible mouse cursor freezes at a fixed position after switching from
gameplay back to a menu. Mouse movement is still processed correctly by the
game. Menu items respond to hovering at the actual mouse position, which no
longer matches the visible cursor. The issue reoccurs consistently after
leaving and reopening a game menu.

EXPECTED RESULT

The visible mouse cursor should always follow the actual mouse position when
navigating menus, including after switching between gameplay and menus multiple
times.

Workaround:

Moving the mouse pointer outside the game window temporarily restores normal
cursor movement. For example:

1. Switch away from the game using Alt+Tab.
2. Move the mouse pointer outside the game window.
3. Switch back to the game using Alt+Tab.
4. The visible mouse cursor works correctly again.

The issue reappears after leaving and reopening a game menu.

The problem occurs in both fullscreen and windowed mode. Without the
Wine-Wayland launch parameter, the mouse cursor works correctly, including
repeated menu transitions. The problem is reproducible with only
`PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1`. The actual mouse input is never frozen; only the
visible cursor position stops updating.

I assume this is somehow related to bug 526010, which is marked as fixed. The
symptoms appear very similar, but the problem remains reproducible in my
configuration.
