Image of my log screen showing the huge virtual keyboard

# Summary

After upgrading to Plasma 6.8 on CachyOS, the SDDM login screen always displays
a large virtual keyboard whenever the password field receives focus.

The issue occurs on a desktop system with no touchscreen, no tablet mode
support, and virtual keyboards disabled.

# System Information

- Distribution: CachyOS
- KDE Plasma: 6.8.0
- SDDM: 0.21.0-8
- Session: Plasma Wayland
- GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX
- Monitor 1: 3840×2160 @ 120 Hz
- Monitor 2: 2560×1440 @ 60 Hz
- SDDM Theme: Breeze

# Steps to Reproduce

1. Connect two monitors.
2. Boot the system normally.
3. Wait for the SDDM login screen.
4. Click inside the password field.

# Expected Result

No virtual keyboard should appear because:

- Virtual Keyboard provider is set to "None".
- Virtual Keyboard policy is set to "Never".
- There is no touchscreen attached.
- Tablet mode is unavailable.
- This is a desktop PC with mouse and keyboard.

# Actual Result

A large virtual keyboard appears automatically as soon as the password field
gains focus.

Observed behavior:

- The keyboard occupies a large portion of the screen.
- The keyboard appears on the secondary monitor by default.
- If the password field on the primary monitor receives focus, the keyboard
moves to the primary monitor.
- If the keyboard is manually hidden and the password field is focused again,
it immediately reappears.
- The behavior only occurs on the SDDM login screen.

# Additional Diagnostics

## Virtual Keyboard Configuration

System Settings → Keyboard → Virtual Keyboard

Provider:

```text
None
```

Policy:

```text
Never
```

## Tablet Mode Status

KWin reports:

```text
org.kde.KWin.TabletModeManager
tabletMode = false
tabletModeAvailable = false
```

## Input Method Checks

IBus service is not running:

```bash
systemctl --user status ibus.service
```

returns:

```text
Unit ibus.service could not be found.
```

No IBus processes are running:

```bash
ps aux | grep ibus
```

returns only the grep process.

Environment variables:

```bash
echo $GTK_IM_MODULE
echo $QT_IM_MODULE
echo $XMODIFIERS
```

all return empty values.

## Touchscreen Detection

No touchscreen or tablet devices are present.

KWin reports:

```text
tabletModeAvailable = false
```

## SDDM Theme Investigation

The Breeze SDDM theme contains references to KWin virtual keyboard
functionality:

```qml
Keyboards.KWinVirtualKeyboard.forceActivate()
```

located in:

```text
/usr/share/sddm/themes/breeze/Main.qml
```

# Multi-Monitor Observation

This appears to be directly related to the presence of a second monitor.

## Reproducible Workaround

If the secondary monitor is powered off and the system is rebooted:

- SDDM behaves normally.
- No virtual keyboard appears.
- Login works as expected.

If the secondary monitor is connected:

- The virtual keyboard always appears when the password field gains focus.

This suggests a possible interaction between:

- SDDM Breeze theme
- KWin virtual keyboard
- Multi-monitor handling
- Plasma 6.8

# Regression

The issue started immediately after upgrading to Plasma 6.8.

The behavior was not observed prior to the upgrade.

# Hardware Configuration

```text
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX
Primary Monitor: 3840×2160 @ 120 Hz
Secondary Monitor: 2560×1440 @ 60 Hz
Session Type: Wayland
```

# Notes

This appears to be a login-screen issue only.

The desktop session itself works normally.

The issue is reproducible and disappears when the second monitor is
disconnected before booting.
