            Bug ID: 527352
Summary: Add support for NetBird VPN
                    (org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.netbird) in plasma-nm
    Classification: Plasma
           Product: plasmashell
      Version First master
       Reported In:
          Platform: Fedora RPMs
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: Networking in general
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: 1.0

DESCRIPTION
NetBird now ships an official NetworkManager VPN plugin
(https://github.com/netbirdio/network-manager-vpn-plugin, package
network-manager-netbird). A connection of type vpn / vpn-type netbird
activates fine via nmcli, but the Plasma Networks widget refuses to
activate it and shows a "VPN 'netbird' is not supported" message.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install NetBird and the network-manager-netbird package
2. Create a profile:
nmcli connection add type vpn con-name netbird-test vpn-type netbird ifname
--nmcli connection modify netbird-test +vpn.data
"auth=sso,management-url=<url>"
3. nmcli connection up netbird-test --ask -> works (SSO via browser)
4. Try to connect the same profile from the Networks widget

OBSERVED RESULT
Plasma refuses to activate the connection and reports that it does not support
the 'netbird' VPN type.

EXPECTED RESULT

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System (available in the Info Center app, or by running `kinfo` in a
terminal window): Fedora 44 KDE
KDE Plasma Version: 6.7.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 6. 31.0
Qt Version: 6.11.2
network-manager-netbird: network-manager-netbird-0.1.12-1.x86_64

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- The same profile can be activated from nm-applet (network-manager-applet,
GTK) and via nmcli, so the netbird plugin and its .name file work with
other NM frontends. Only the Plasma Networks widget rejects the netbird
  VPN type.
- The Networks widget works normally for other connections (Wi-Fi / wired,
  whatever you actually tested).
- The plugin only controls the local NetBird daemon over gRPC; NetworkManager
is used as a control/status frontend, so no IP configuration is done by NM.
- plasma-nm's vpn/ directory has no netbird entry.
