On a two-monitor setup where one output is rotated, clicks in native Wayland
clients land at the wrong position: roughly 4 characters to the left of the
pointer, and sometimes one line above. The same apps forced through XWayland
(Firefox with MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=0, VS Code with --ozone-platform=x11, kitty
with linux_display_server x11) behave correctly on the same output.
This also affects KDE's own Qt apps and plasmashell (panel, menus, Dolphin,
Kate), so it does not look like an application-side rotation bug (cf. bug
504613, closed as RESOLVED UPSTREAM).
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Two outputs: DP-1 1920x1080 at 0,585 (not rotated); HDMI-A-1 1080x1920 at
1920,0 (rotated 270°, kscreen-doctor Rotation: 8).
2. Log into Plasma Wayland.
3. On HDMI-A-1, click inside a text field in Kate or Dolphin, or on the Plasma
panel.
OBSERVED RESULT
Click/caret lands ~4 characters to the left of the pointer, sometimes one line
above.
EXPECTED RESULT
Click lands exactly under the pointer.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- KWIN_FORCE_SW_CURSOR=1 does NOT change the behavior (so not a hardware cursor
plane issue).
- Present since at least 6.7.4; still present in 6.8.0. On 6.7.x the X11
session
