[kate] [Bug 523598] The application hangs and becomes unresponsive for a period of time when clicking the Terminal tab. Furthermore, if the software is restarted with the Terminal left open, it experiences the same delay upon launching.

On windows, antivirus e.g., defender can check every dll on first load which
can slow things down. 

Also, check if MS Terminal is slow to open?

Other than that, only profiling can show why its slow.
