            Bug ID: 527434
Summary: Maximizing via titlebar double-click or maximize
button puts window partly off-screen to the left
    Classification: Plasma
           Product: kwin
      Version First 6.8.0
       Reported In:
          Platform: CachyOS
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: core
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

DESCRIPTION
Since KWin 6.8.0, maximizing a window by double-clicking the titlebar or
clicking the maximize button leaves the window maximized but shifted left,
partly off-screen. Happens with different apps (WezTerm, Dolphin). Maximizing
the same window from a KWin script with setMaximize(true, true) places it
correctly.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Place a normal window away from the left screen edge (e.g. at x=442, width
697).
2. Double-click its titlebar or click the maximize button.
3. Check window position.

OBSERVED RESULT
Window is maximized (maximizeMode 3, correct size 1536x914) but frameGeometry.x
is negative: -419.6 in this case (exactly half of the width increase). Other
tries: -330, -228, -232.

EXPECTED RESULT
Window at 0,0 1536x914 (maximize area).

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: CachyOS Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.8.0
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.31.0
Qt Version: 6.12.0
Kernel Version: 7.2.10-1-cachyos (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080, driver 615. also present
Display: single output 1920x1200, scale 1.25

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Still happens with: scale 1.0, Aurorae Plastik,
wobblywindows/mouseclick/trackmouse/touchpoint rules for affected windows.
Workaround: KWin script that sets
frameGeometrkspace.clientArea(KWin.MaximizeArea, w) on
maximizedChanged/frameGeometryChanged.
