Bug ID: 527427
Summary: Automatic AI tagging in digiKam 9.2.0 creates English
keywords even though German translation is configured.
Classification: Applications
Product: digikam
Version First 9.2.0
Reported In:
Platform: Other
OS: Microsoft Windows
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: Maintenance-AutoTags
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
SYSTEM
digiKam 9.2.0
Windows 11 Enterprise, 64-bit
AI model: EfficientNet-B7
Target language: German
Online translation service: Google
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Open digiKam and configure automatic AI tagging with EfficientNet-B7.
Enable translation of generated keywords into German.
Run automatic tagging on selected images.
Inspect the newly created keywords in the tag manager.
ACTUAL RESULT
The AI-generated keywords are stored in English instead of German.
A network connectivity test to translate.google.com on TCP port 443 succeeds,
but the translation does not take place.
The previous keyword assignments and tag hierarchy were removed, and the
keyword database was cleaned up. Existing keywords were standardized in German.
When new automatic tags are generated, English keywords appear again.
EXPECTED RESULT
AI-generated English keywords should be translated into German before being
added to the tag database.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The problem is reproducible with EfficientNet-B7. Image analysis and automatic
keyword generation themselves work.
Please investigate whether the online translation backend is functioning
correctly on Windows and whether failed translations are silently ignored.
