--- Comment #3 from [email protected] <[email protected]> --- I can reproduce this on Fedora 44 with the exact steps from comment 2. In my case it is a freeze with fast memory growth rather than a direct crash. Versions: Plasma 6.7.5, KDE Frameworks 6.31.0, Qt 6.11.2, kdepim-addons and Akonadi 26.08.1, Wayland. Setup: two Google accounts through the Akonadi Google resource, 8 calendars and task lists ticked under Calendar Events. The calendars I unticked held about 630 events in total (a busy calendar plus a Google "Holidays in Brazil" calendar). What happens: 1. Configure Digital Clock > Calendar Events, untick those calendars, Apply. 2. plasmashell stops responding. Memory peaked at 2.3 GB on one try and 4.1 GB on another (normally about 0.55 GB) before I chose "Terminate" in KWin's "not responding" dialog, about half a minute in. 3. The process is then aborted (SIGABRT) and killed (SIGKILL). The resulting core dump is unusable: gdb can't read the stack or the shared library list, and DrKonqi only reports "KCrash metadata not marked complete". 4. The new selection is lost. PimCalendarsModel::saveConfig() calls writeEntry() and then emits settingsChanged(), which starts the removal cascade before the change is synced to plasmashellrc. After the restart all calendars are ticked again, so every retry hits the same freeze. This looks like the same root cause as bug 526769: AkonadiPimDataSource::onSettingsChanged() -> EventModel::removeCalendar() reports every item in the collection as removed, and DaysModel::onEventRemoved() resets the model once per removed uid. The proposed fix is https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-workspace/-/merge_requests/7183. Bug 520193 and bug 493415 describe the same trigger. Workaround that worked for me: change the selection while plasmashell is stopped. At startup the plugin only adds the configured calendars and never runs the removal path. systemctl --user stop plasma-plasmashell kwriteconfig6 --file plasmashellrc --group PIMEventsPlugin --key calendars <ids to keep, comma-separated> systemctl --user start plasma-plasmashell The current ids are in the [PIMEventsPlugin] calendars= line of ~/.config/plasmashellrc; akonadiconsole shows which collection each id is. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
