The workaround by Freggel does the trick. Additionally, I have observed that yakuake will break and only use half its height if the virtual keyboard is opened. It does not recover when the virtual keyboard is closed. I attached a screenshot after opening and closing the virtual keyboard. Restarting yakuake does solve the issue but that's not a feasible workaround.
