Bug ID: 527528
Summary: Feature Request: Add a context menu option to
synchronize calendar events in the Digital Clock
widget
Classification: Plasma
Product: plasmashell
Version First master
Reported In:
Platform: Other
OS: Other
Status: REPORTED
Severity: wishlist
Priority: NOR
Component: Digital Clock widget
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: 1.0
Rationale:
Currently, when using the Digital Clock applet in KDE Plasma with the
kdepim-addons plugin enabled to show PIM/Akonadi calendar events, there is no
quick way to manually trigger a sync. When a user notices that a newly added
remote event is missing from the clock dropdown, they currently have to open
the full KOrganizer application to force a synchronization.
Proposal:
To solve this, a "Synchronize Calendar" option could be added directly to the
right-click context menu of the Digital Clock widget.
To keep the interface clean and relevant, this menu option should only be
visible if a remote network calendar (such as a CalDAV/DAV calendar) is
actually configured and in use.
When triggered, the widget could communicate with the Akonadi storage subsystem
via its existing DBus interfaces to trigger a background sync. This provides a
seamless and unobtrusive way to refresh remote data directly from the desktop
panel without needing to open the main KOrganizer application.
Thank you for considering this enhancement!
