Also in the Information panel there is this option to assign a tag which also works. Are you referring to an external drive mounted? Is the problem about folders with thousands of files only? Do you expect all files inside the folder that has the tag to also carry the tag(in my system it doesn't happen and it might be intentional? Does tagging only a few files or folders work? Thanks.
